Open your video in KMPlayer, pause it right before where you wanna make your gif, and right click: (sorry KM is not optimized for a 4k display and looks like shit)
Go to Capture -> Frame: Extract and set it up like this:
Format: JPEG Number: 7 Seconds Frames: Every 3rd Frame
now if you wanna make a shorter gif, you can mess with frame count and the seconds you capture but this is my go-to set up and gives you PLENTY of frames to work with
ANYWAYS, hit start on this stupid little box, then hit play on your video.
At this point, KM Player kept crashing for me, so I’m going to use some frames I had left over from a Halo gifset (sorry, Leonid Kharitonov)
Anyways, open photoshop, go to file -> scripts -> load files into stack
Hit Browse, find your friends (typically in C://KMPlayer/Captures) highlight them all, hit okay and then okay
WHILE YOU WAIT FOR ALL YOUR FRAMES TO LOAD, SWITCH TO THE MOTION/ANIMATION WORKSPACE
Click “create frame animation” in the bottom toolbar, then Make Frames from Layers from the little drop down menu on the bottom toolbar
Make sure you reverse your frames then
Bottom left on the screen, change “Once” to “Forever”
Then its basically just color edits and cropping and text and whatnot
Saving time. File -> Export -> Save for Web
older photoshops just have like….Save For Web under Save As or something like that
I honestly dont know what most of this stuff means, just make sure if youre uploading to tumblr, the size in the bottom left of the pop up is under 3 MB
Save it
Post it
I am very tired right now and slightly drunk so if anyone needs more in-depth help or w/e just holla at my inbox
