not to be uwu but seriously stay hydrated or else your kidneys will just start passive-aggressively making rocks inside your piss tubes

kidney stones are actually formed from excess calcium – which if you eat an orange or grapefruit or other citrus fruit a day will drastically decrease your risk of getting kidney stones.
the amount of water you drink has next to nothing to do with the formation of kidney stones unless you’re chronically dehydrated, and as long as you drink when you’re thirsty- you will not become dehydrated.
Drinking 8 glasses a day is pseudo-science; all of the studies that state that it is healthy to drink 8 glasses of water a day, are biased from corporations such as gatorade, and studies that have attempted to replicate their findings find negative results, such as water weight, hyponatremia, sequelae of hyponatremia.
Some people lay claim to the misconception that by the time you’re thirsty you’re already dehydrated. However a 2% difference in your plasma osmolality (the electrolyte-water balance) triggers your brain to signal to your body that you’re thirsty, the threshold for dehydration is 5% or a loss of 3% of your body weight.
Just eat an orange if you’re worried about kidney stones, and drink when you’re thirsty- your brain and body know how to take care of themselves, let them.
