@staff Is that little note up top supposed to make me feel better about my nosedive in activity? Cuz it’s not. Just seems like a quick patch to cover your ass and absolve yourself of responsibility when users yell at you.
Kill “Best Stuff First” with FIRE nobody asked for this.
For Tumblr mobile users, go into your settings with the gear in the upper right corner > General Settings > Dashboard Preferences > TURN OFF BEST STUFF FIRST
I followed the blogs I follow for a reason. I want to see them. And I decide what I think is best, don’t tell me what to like.
“The numbers reported below may be innacurate”
lmao what the fuck ok, so tumblr is prepared to make us all believe theres a ‘glitch’ in their Activity graph- that literally everyone’s hits taking nosedives is unrelated to their recent ‘update’ to show us ‘best posts first’ rather than content from who you follow. Either theyre going to make a patch that creates a false activity count while keeping the ‘Best Stuff First’ algorithm, or theyre going to continue to do jack nothing about it. There is zero chance they will be removing Best Stuff First, as it has already been made to be an ‘option’ a user can turn on/off, its much more likely that they’ll be attempting to cover their asses by claiming the massive dip in activity across the board for all users is a ‘technical glitch’ and not ‘this new thing we did has done something real bad to thousands of users and we will acknowledge that and correct it’.
basically, we’re stuck with hoping word spreads and users turn off Best Stuff First filters, and rather than accept it was a poor choice of update for the platform this site runs on, staff is going to hunker in on the ‘no no, its not our update, its a separate bug that just isnt showing you accurate numbers, but theyre totally fixing it!”
